Homemade Fabric Softener

Hey all! Thought maybe it was time to post a DYI blog! I went to buy liquid fabric softener today and it was $8.99. I was like what?

I don’t think so. Because the other day I decided that I was going to make some myself. And then I forgot, or got lazy or whatever. I was going to buy it because there are only so many hours in my day.

But $8.99. Oh hell no. So here is the recipe. It’s so easy it’s nearly embarrassing. And it cost me about $.25 to make it…maybe $.30 tops. I reused my old bottle, the ingredients are nearly free.

You can use any conditioner you want, if it smells good go for it, my one bit of advice would be to use a thinner conditioner, maybe one from the dollar store, and always shake it well before use!

Fabric Softener Recipe

1/2 Cup Conditioner of your choice

1 cup Vinegar

2 Cups Very Warm Water

Essential Oil of your choice (I used Lime this time because Lime is awesome!)

Mix all ingredients in a plastic bottle of your choice (I reused one from bought fabric softener) and shake very well, about 50 or 60 times if you use a thick conditioner, just make sure it’s mixed well. Use 1 – 2 tbsp per load. (I poured it back into the measuring cup after I shook it so you could see what it looked like!!)

That’s it for today! Now get out there and save some money!!
